What is the "name" key used for?

In some of the examples (like the floorplanner_home.yaml) there is a key "name", is this used for anything at all other than a note/comment field?

- name: Temperature entities: - sensor.hallway state_action: - service: floorplan.text_set service_data: '${(entity.state !== undefined) ? Math.round(entity.state * 10) / 10 + "°" : "unknown"}'

I am unable to find any documentation on what this is intended to be used for... my assumption is that it's simply for organization, but google suggested that it's used for troubleshooting and logging... but in looking at the logs I've never seen anything I put in the name key show up anywhere.

am I missing something?
