Backend Tests (Java)

Prerequisites

TestContainers automatically starts a real PostgreSQL instance for integration tests. Docker must be running on the development machine.

Test Commands

# All tests (unit + integration)
mvn test

# Tests only, no package
mvn test -pl .

# Skip tests (for fast build)
mvn clean package -DskipTests

# Run single test class
mvn test -Dtest=FeedServiceTest

# Run single test method
mvn test -Dtest=FeedServiceTest#shouldReturnFeedsForUser

How-To: Write a New Test

Backend (Service Test)

  1. Create file: src/test/java/com/github/lamarios/newsku/services/<Name>ServiceTest.java
  2. Use @ExtendWith(MockitoExtension.class)
  3. Mock dependencies with @Mock
  4. Instantiate service with @InjectMocks

Backend (Integration Test)

  1. Create file: src/test/java/com/github/lamarios/newsku/integration/<Name>IT.java
  2. Use @SpringBootTest + @Testcontainers
  3. Start PostgreSQL container via @Container
  4. Inject properties via @DynamicPropertySource

Flutter (Unit Test)

  1. Create file: src/main/app/test/<name>_test.dart
  2. Import flutter_test
  3. Use group() + test() / testWidgets()
