PDF Master

A modern web app for working with PDF files directly in the browser. It lets you split, merge, and organize pages without needing desktop software.

PDF Master

What this app does

This project provides a simple PDF toolkit with these main actions:

  • Split a PDF into multiple files using custom page ranges, fixed-size chunks, single-page PDFs, or selected pages.
  • Merge several PDFs into one document and reorder the files before exporting.
  • Organize pages by rotating, deleting, duplicating, reordering, and previewing them.
  • Add page numbers and edit PDF metadata such as title, author, and subject.
  • Generate a sample PDF for testing the interface quickly.

Built with

  • React + TypeScript
  • Vite
  • pdf-lib for PDF creation and manipulation
  • PDF.js for rendering page previews
  • Tailwind-inspired styling and Lucide icons

Getting started

  1. Install dependencies:
    npm install
  2. Start the development server:
    npm run dev
  3. Open the local URL shown by Vite in your browser.

Available scripts

  • npm run dev — start the development server
  • npm run build — create a production build
  • npm run preview — preview the built app locally
  • npm run lint — run TypeScript checks

Project structure

  • src/components/ — UI views for splitting, merging, and organizing PDFs
  • src/utils/ — PDF processing helpers and worker logic
  • src/types.ts — shared TypeScript types
  • src/App.tsx — main app state and navigation

Notes

The app is designed for browser-based PDF editing and works best for local document management and quick PDF cleanup tasks.
