About Our Trust

According to a latest survey, there are around 30 lakhs places of worship in India, much more than schools, colleges and hospitals combined. These make up the cultural fabric of India’s culture and heritage, mythology and spirituality that exists several hundreds years ago. Some of them are popular pilgrimage centres and attract several thousands of devotees and tourists in a year while several others though equally significant do not have the same kind of patronage due to poor maintenance, lack of awareness or infrastructure. Apart from the paucity of funds that has led to several Indian heritage places bite dust, urbanization, vandalism and general attitude of disregard among the public have contributed to the cause.

“Sarvalaya Samrakshana” (which in Sanskrit and tamil means ‘patronage, preservation, protection, Safeguard, conservation and maintenance of all kind Indian heritage places beyond the religion’) was founded in 23rd June, 2017 is a registered Public Charitable Trust and based in Chennai.

Sarvalaya Samrakshana Trust has been created with the primary object of creating awareness and appreciation about ancient, unique and lesser known Indian heritage places and the rich cultural, mythological and spiritual evidence they carry. We strongly believe that behavioural change towards protecting and maintaining these great heritage treasures would happen once the history of these Indian heritage places is revealed.

The other objects are to provide aid to relief of the poor and upliftment of society especially socially and economically backward by providing for their education, medical and other basic living needs.
