Arabic Keyboard Layout Not Switching in Omarchy

I'm using Omarchy and I'm trying to add an Arabic keyboard layout and switch between English and Arabic. I added these settings to ~/.config/hypr/input.lua.

kb_layout = "us, ar" , و kb_options نقطة، grp:Alt_Shift_toggle

then I ran hyprctl reload. But pressing Alt+Shift doesn't switch between the layouts. What is the correct configuration for adding Arabic keyboard support and switching between English and Arabic in Omarchy? Thanks!

Hyprland handles layout switching itself; a second layout only becomes switchable when both layouts and a toggle option are declared in the input block. In Omarchy that lives in your ~/.config/hypr/input.conf (or wherever your override file is):

Then hyprctl reload. Check it took effect with hyprctl devices | grep -A3 keymap — you should see active keymap: English (US) and Alt+Shift will flip it to Arabic. Other toggle keys: grp:win_space_toggle, grp:caps_toggle. If Omarchy has its own keyboard-layout setting in its menu, set it there instead so it doesn't overwrite your file on update.

Two things in that line stop it from working: the xkb name for Arabic is ara (there's no ar, xkbcommon fails with "Couldn't find file symbols/ar"), and option names are lowercase, so grp:Alt_Shift_toggle is just ignored ("Unrecognized RMLVO option").

On Omarchy 4 the file is Lua, and kb_options replaces Omarchy's defaults, so keep those in the string:

Keep us first: Hyprland matches keybindings against the first layout, so Omarchy's shortcuts would stop working with Arabic first. Then hyprctl reload.
