The ask
The
linux-omarchykernel package (currently 7.2.5-3) ships kernel patches on top of mainline Linux but the source repository and PKGBUILD are not publicly available. I'd like to suggest making them public.Why it matters
Auditability. Users and distro contributors can't review what changes ship in their kernel.
Debugging. I recently tracked down a bug where a missing field reset in
reset_freesync_config_for_crtc()(amdgpu_dm.c) causes aWARN_ON(drm_crtc_vblank_get())during s2idle resume on VRR-enabled monitors, leaving daisy-chained MST monitors black after wake. Diagnosing this required:amdgpu.ko.zstpaholeonvmlinuxto discover an extra field (dsc_passthrough_timings_support) was added todrm_display_mode, shifting all downstream struct offsets by 16 bytesamdgpu.kofrom vanilla 7.2.5 source with the struct correction appliedAll of this to apply a one-line fix. With a public source repo, this would have been a straightforward patch against the PKGBUILD.
Contribution path. Right now there's no way to PR kernel fixes back to omarchy — I have a confirmed, tested fix for the VRR/MST resume bug above with no upstream path into the omarchy kernel except asking here.
Precedent
CachyOS, Fedora, Arch, and every other Linux distro publish their kernel PKGBUILDs and patch sets. This is standard practice and a GPL-2.0 obligation for distributed modifications.
The specific bug (bonus)
If the source were public this would just be a PR, but for now: in
drivers/gpu/drm/amd/display/amdgpu_dm/amdgpu_dm.c,reset_freesync_config_for_crtc()resetsvrr_supportedandvrr_infopacketbut notfreesync_config.state. On resume,drm_atomic_helper_resume()commits the cached pre-sleep state which still hasfreesync_config.state = VRR_STATE_ACTIVE_VARIABLE, triggering a VRR off→on transition before vblank is enabled. Fix is one line:Tested and confirmed working on Framework Desktop (AMD Ryzen AI Max 300 / Strix Halo) with a Dell U4025QW + Dell S2725QC daisy-chained over USB-C DP MST,
vrr = 1in Hyprland monitor config.All reactions
