What career growth can I expect with a Cisco CCNA certification? #157269
-
Hi everyone,I am asking this question because I'm currently exploring career paths in networking and want to understand how valuable the CCNA certification is in terms of long-term career growth. I'm especially interested in knowing what kind of roles or opportunities it can open up, and whether it's worth investing time and effort into. Insights from people who have already taken this path would really help me make an informed decision. |

Earning a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification can significantly enhance your career prospects in the IT networking field. It validates your knowledge in networking fundamentals, IP services, security, and automation, making you a valuable asset to employers. With a CCNA certification, you can pursue roles such as network engineer, network administrator, help desk administrator, and technical support engineer. Additionally, it serves as a stepping stone to advanced certifications like CCNP and CCIE, which can lead to senior positions and higher salaries. Overall, the CCNA certification opens doors to various opportunities and career growth in the IT industry. If you're interested in any Cisco certification, it's highly recommended to utilize Cisco Practice Exams. These practice tests are designed to closely mirror the actual exam, helping you familiarize yourself with the format and structure. They provide valuable insights into the types of questions you can expect, allowing you to identify areas of strength and weakness. By practicing with these tests, you'll be better prepared and more confident in passing the certification exam. |

Hi @holtjose! I am a recruiter in the CCNA/CCNP/CCIE governmental space with 6+ years of experience sourcing, screening and hiring. I agree with @jacobwhidden. The Cisco Practice Tests are a great place to familiarize yourself with what the content and scope of material is covered by each exam. I believe there are also boot camps that help you prepare! I highly recommend obtaining and CCNP and then a CCIE (written & lab). CCNPs can do what CCIEs do with architecture, but it will increase your salary. CCNA's are earning $70K-$90K/year or more. CCNPs are earning $110K-$150K/year or more with a secret clearance. I have found that some CCNPs can have similar job descriptions as CCNPs, but CCIEs are earning $200K-$250K or more with secret clearances. Do a search for VAR or OEM companies in the DC/MD/VA area. They often offer remote positions, with some onsite travel. I do have one now, but it is CCIE onsite at Quantico. Good Luck with your certifications! It's definitely worth the education! - Christine |
