Hey! GitHub's system requires a "live" capture to prevent fraud, which is why there isn't any "Upload" button. However, GitHub Education maintainers have confirmed that you can still use digital documents by following these steps:

• The "Monitor" Method: Open your document on a high-resolution monitor or laptop screen. Use your phone or webcam to take a live photo of that screen. GitHub staff in Discussion #151435 recommend this: "If you are taking a photo of a screen try to have it as large a resolution as possible - take a photo of the evidence on a monitor... rather than a phone."
• The "Print" Method: If you have access to a printer, print your digital document and take a photo of the physical copy. This is often more reliable than a screen photo because it eliminates glare and the weird lines on screens that can cause the AI to reject your application.
• Manual Review Path: If the automated camera system fails after multiple attempts, you must request a manual review. Go to support.github.com/contact/education, select Student Verification, and explain that you only have digital credentials. You can then attach the original PDF files directly to that ticket for a human agent to verify.

Tip: Ensure your full name, school name, and a current date are clearly visible in the photo. If the text is blurry or unreadable, the system will reject it automatically regardless of whether it's a photo of a screen or a printout.

I have the same problem, and I do not own a camera. It is also impossible to contact them selecting the right themes. I just used another theme and I hope to have luck. I explained that this system is not good enough and there should be more support options.

it's enough for anti fraud to be effective this way. only solution is for you to have 2 devices to capture those credentials otherwise seek help from your family or friend.

I have tried now also several times. The "capture photo" action is obviously working very poor - I can not get a sharp steady photo, so the ANI (Artificial Non Intelligence) claims, that some information is missing - it was an official document from my university ! I have gotten it as PDF - but can not upload... by the way photo is not anti fraud - what exactly shall it prove ? Location and everything else could be faked, even on a "smartphone".
I assume that github obviously is ignorant to these problems, seeing all those discussions here - ok, so I have to consider quitting it completely - and as every marketeer knows: bad experience is shared 10 times so often than good ones...
