Hi everyone,

Hey, i am trying to apply for github education using a UK tax exemption form with all of the details such as my name, date of course, school name and logo etc but it keeps saying my document doesnt provide a school name and a course date when it does infact contain all of the needed information since it is a tax exemption document. Can someone help?

The issue is that GitHub's verification system uses automated document scanning, and it often struggles with non-standard documents like tax exemption forms — even if all the information is technically there.
Here's what I'd recommend:
Try a different document first:
GitHub tends to accept these most reliably:

Official enrollment letter from your university
Student ID card (front and back)
Class schedule/timetable with your name and current dates
Screenshot of your student portal showing enrollment status

These are more straightforward for the system to parse since the school name, your name, and dates are usually clearly formatted.
If you only have the tax exemption form:

Make sure the photo/scan is high quality, well-lit, and not cropped
The school name and course dates should be clearly visible and not cut off
Try highlighting or circling the relevant fields before uploading (some people have had success with this)

If it still gets rejected:

Resubmit and in the additional notes/comments field, explain exactly where the school name and dates appear on the document
You can also try contacting GitHub Education support directly through the rejection email — there's usually a link to appeal

Most UK students get verified easily with an enrollment letter from their uni — check if you can download one from your student portal.
