Support Native Video Rendering in Prebid Mobile #985

Description

@jaysongkkim

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Yes. We are integrating Prebid Mobile with our in-house mediation and ad serving SDK for a large mobile publisher. While Prebid Mobile supports banner rendering and other formats, it currently does not support Native Video rendering.

This limitation prevents us from adopting Prebid Mobile consistently across all of our in-app inventory. As a result, we have to maintain different monetization flows depending on the ad format, increasing engineering complexity, QA effort, and long-term maintenance costs.

Native Video has become an increasingly important ad format for mobile publishers, especially for feed-based content applications such as webtoon, news, social, and content platforms. Publishers adopt Native Video because it provides a more seamless user experience than traditional display formats while maintaining strong monetization performance.

Without Native Video support, publishers cannot fully migrate their in-app monetization stack to Prebid Mobile and must maintain separate implementations specifically for Native Video.

Describe the solution you'd like
We would like Prebid Mobile to support Native Video rendering as a first-class supported ad format.

Ideally, publishers should be able to:

  • Request Native Video demand through Prebid Mobile
  • Receive the winning bid from Prebid Server
  • Render Native Video creatives using Prebid Mobile
  • Support impression tracking, click tracking, win notifications, and OM SDK measurement consistently with other supported rendering formats

From a publisher's perspective, Native Video should be integrated into the same rendering and tracking workflow as other supported formats, allowing a single and consistent Prebid Mobile integration across all major mobile ad formats.

Describe alternatives you've considered
We considered implementing a custom Native Video rendering layer ourselves.

However, this approach would require publishers to duplicate functionality that Prebid Mobile already provides for other rendering formats, including rendering logic, event tracking, impression tracking, click handling, and ongoing maintenance.

A custom implementation also increases engineering costs and creates additional compatibility risks whenever Prebid Mobile evolves.

Supporting Native Video natively within Prebid Mobile would provide a much more scalable and maintainable solution for publishers integrating Prebid into their mobile monetization stack.

Additional context
Native advertising continues to gain adoption because it delivers a less disruptive user experience while achieving higher user engagement than traditional display advertising.

According to EMARKETER, consumers view native ads 53% more frequently than banner ads, making native advertising an important monetization strategy for content-driven mobile applications.

At the same time, digital video is one of the fastest-growing advertising segments. According to the IAB, U.S. digital video advertising spend is expected to exceed $80 billion in 2026, growing faster than the overall advertising market.

Many mobile publishers are increasingly combining these two trends by adopting Native Video placements within feeds and content streams. However, the lack of Native Video support in Prebid Mobile makes it difficult to use a single Prebid integration across all major in-app ad formats.

Adding Native Video support would significantly improve the adoption of Prebid Mobile among publishers using proprietary mediation platforms or custom ad servers, enabling a more consistent monetization architecture while reducing implementation complexity.
