Bridgeable interoperability with ATmospheric Groups

BlueSky announced a new communities feature for ATProto under development.

Working on groups in ActivityPub at the same time as this development is happening in the ATProto community seems like a unique opportunity to harmonize our work on both sides.

How can we collaborate with ATProto developers to maximize interoperability of ATProto communities and ActivityPub groups?

At the very least, how can we make it less impossible to bridge?

I see a few things we could do here.

First, shared user stories. Seeing how the user stories for ActivityPub groups overlap with ATProto communities.

Second, compatibly-mapped data structures. ATProto data structures are not identical to ActivityPub objects, actors, collections, and activities, but bridges have mapped from one side to the other. Can we make it easy to maintain that mapping?

Third, a roughly mappable authorization model. I think with ActivityPub we'd like to be able to support consensus-based models #36 and have flexible roles and responsibilities #26 . I'm not sure what the plan is for those in Communities, but it'd be good if at least one possible configuration of AP groups would map to the config of Communities.

So, @brittanyellich is your Figjam public? I'd love to link it here and discuss. I think that most of the "Group Management Contract" maps cleanly onto our user stories for ActivityPub groups.

Yes! It should be!! Awesome, I think if we keep things pretty minimal, which seems to be the preference for folks, then hopefully the bridging and interoperability story won't be too scary?
