Hi! Following the invitation on the homepage to share projects that use your data.
I built Absurdity Index — an open-source civic tech site that scores real federal legislation on a 1–10 absurdity scale, with satirical commentary grounded in sourced facts.
Every bill we cover links directly to its congress.gov page, and the project was inspired by the ecosystem of open government data tools that the @unitedstates project helped pioneer.
How it works:
- Covers real bills from the current Congress, each with an "absurdity score" and plain-language breakdown
- Every factual claim includes a proof link to congress.gov, law.cornell.edu, or other authoritative .gov sources
- Includes bill tracking, sponsor profiles, voting records, and category-based browsing
