January 7 Competition (Lexington) Issues & Improvements

Minor Issues

• Scissors (That can actually cut well)
• Alliance markers
  • Perhaps with magnets to easily attach (so it doesn't have to be a pain next competition)

Main/Major Issues/Areas for Improvement

• Wiring/Wire Management

  • Using small bracket boxes to box each extension connection so that it is much harder/impossible for the connection to come loose #3
  • Attach wire track consistently to the linear slide platform (in other words, make sure the linear slide does not jam) #4
    • Other wise management techniques such as a tube
  • Generally better run/enclose the wires #6

• Linear slide stringing #2

  • Perhaps stainless steel wire?

• Drivers should PRACTICE MORE

  • Fix the camera in place, 3D print enclosure for attachment maybe? (This can help with our perhaps happening computer vision alignment mechanism)

• Add ability to pick up cones from a stack of cones (for AUTONOMOUS) #5

• Swap our currently crappily attached power label, robot moves on initialization, and other loosely attached components.

Tentative/Conceptual Improvements

• Better beacon?
• Incorporate gyroscope into autonomous for better alignment (such as not tilting)
  • Perhaps have the alignment mechanism right below the claw?
• Image recognition in autonomous to better align placement of cones on junctions
• New claw contact surface (3D printed + cut new material from wheel to attach on surface)
  • Or perhaps molding?
• Is PID needed at all? At the current stage I think not.
