Welcome

Computations for Orthopedics and Biomechanics (COB) is a research team at the Washington State University Applied Sciences Laboratory on the Health Sciences campus in Spokane. We specialize in modeling and simulation of orthopedic mechanics with particular focus on the knee.

Modeling and Simulation Workflows

Defining a model and performing simulations is just one stage in a modeling and simulation workflow.

Image Processing, Segmentation, and Registration

label_overlay
A labelmap of segmented anatomy from MRI that has had morphological closing and median filters applied for smoothing, internal holes filled, and Boolean operations applied to ensure congruency between cartilage and bone.

Computational Geometry

anim
A high quality tetrahedral mesh generated for all anatomical structures automatically utilizing CGAL.
