I build AI teams for small businesses.
In April 2020 I was an engineer inside the U.S. Small Business Administration when the Paycheck Protection Program launched. Millions of owners hit our servers in the same week, trying to reach the loan that decided whether they survived the year. The system crashed. A very small team, working alongside AWS, had about a week and a half to fix it. Within two weeks over a million small businesses had been approved.
I have never forgotten who was on the other side of those servers. Not companies. Owners, trying to keep people employed.
I started my career writing software in Lima, Peru, and spent six years building for the U.S. Department of State with a Top Secret clearance. In September 2025 I left that work to build PerkOS full time: a workspace where a small business hires a team of AI teammates the way it would hire people. They draft, you approve. Idle teammates hibernate to about two cents a month, which is what makes a price a corner shop can actually pay.
