Cancel unused response bodies after checking link status. A GET fallback against a server that ignores Range could otherwise leave the checker running indefinitely.
Validation: an actual HTTP-server/subprocess regression reproduces the old hang and passes with the fix; npm run check passed, including all eight built routes and internal links.
