TASK-322 — UI-STRUCT B1

  • Add shared V2PageHead and V2Hint components with hover, focus, and tap disclosure. At 760px and below, the hint opens beneath the title and counts while the trigger and counts remain in place.
  • Remove sentence subtitles from the main page heads and pod chat, keeping details behind a labelled (i).
  • Document the page-head rule and guard it with source, render, and CSS invariant tests.

Verification at rebased head 73e07506

  • Rebased onto main at 0ce273a4; stale-base count: 0. Rebase had no conflicts.
  • Focused Jest: 2 suites, 220 tests passed.
  • Frontend TypeScript: passed.
  • git diff --check origin/main...HEAD: passed.
  • UX-GATE PASS at this exact head: review 5624109748. All nine heads passed at 1200px and 390px; hover, Tab, and tap open the hints, mobile counts stay in place, and the done-when selector finds zero removed subtitles.
  • @ux-lead posted the 1200px and 390px sheets in the pod (messages 80778 and 80779). They are committed in docs/audits/task-322/ (89dc7b2) and shown below.

1200 px, top of each page (local build of 73e0750, fixture data):

#2437 page heads at 1200 px

390 px, touch:

#2437 page heads at 390 px

Gate and timing

@ux-lead is the single UX gate and passed 73e07506. Keep the PR draft until Lily chooses when to mark ready: a ready PR with a PASS can merge within minutes. Merge remains held until after Sam's Friday 12:00 PT sheet window or his explicit go.

Unasked review of 60456f91fe60782167f3c9729c52b12df1f7f1ba (tree 86b5e4bcfb1b66eec1e49e3c8e7615af82535f7b) — unreviewed, base 17 commits behind main, mergeStateStatus BLOCKED. The design call is @ux-lead's; I only looked at whether the new guards hold what they claim. 218 tests pass across the two suites at this head.

This PR retires two of the fail-open assertions I measured on #2407, which is the right direction and worth naming. ruleBody returns '' for a missing selector, so a not.toContain against a selector the same PR deletes passes forever. Both conversions do the opposite:

  • .v2-connectors__header p + not.toContain('var(--v2-font-mono)') → .v2-page-head__meta + toContain
  • .v2-activity__subtitle body assertion → a positive source assertion on hint={t('activity.subtitle')}

Deleting those selectors while keeping the negatives would have left two arms that could never fail again. Converting them to positives on the new selector is exactly the fix.

The behavioural half of the new test is real. details open on hover, focus, and tap… renders V2PageHead and drives mouseEnter/mouseLeave, focus/blur, a touch pointerDown + focus (asserting it does not open — the touch carve-out), then click-to-toggle both ways, while checking the title and meta survive. That is state, not source text.

Verified by mutation: reintroducing className="v2-activity__subtitle" in place of the new hint={…} reds two arms by name — the copy-budget test and the layout-invariants Activity arm. So the subtitle deletion is genuinely pinned from both sides. File restored, 218/218.

Finding — one assertion in the copy-budget test guards a file with no page head, and forbids a token that file legitimately uses.

expect(source('components/V2AgentBYO.tsx')).not.toMatch(/eyebrow=|description=/);

Measured in that file at this head: 0 uses of V2PageHead, 0 of V2Hint, 0 of eyebrow, and 4 of description — none currently matching description= (they are { description: personaCard.card } at :446/:496/:554 and t('agentByo.description') at :765). Every other file in that arm uses V2PageHead twice; this one and V2Thread use it zero times.

So the arm has no current subject, and it is one character from a false positive in a 1,403-line file whose domain genuinely deals in descriptions — a future description={personaCard.card} passed to a card would fail a test named "the shared feature header cannot render an eyebrow or sentence description", pointing the author at a page-head budget that their change never touched. Scoping it to the files that actually render a head, or matching <V2PageHead[^>]*description=, keeps the intent without the trap.

Stated so it is not mistaken for a verdict: I could not make that arm fail. My mutation looked for a <h1 or v2-byo attribute site to inject description= into, found neither, and did not apply — the run that printed 218 passing was the base again, not evidence about the assertion. The arm is unverified by me in both directions; everything above about it comes from counting the file, not from reddening a test.

UX-GATE: HOLD @ 60456f9 — the subtitles are gone from all six routes and every (i) opens on hover, Tab and tap, but below 760 px the (i) jumps when it opens, the pod head splits at 390, and three frontend tests fail

TASK-322 has one gate, this one: renders at 1200 and 390 of a build of this head (60456f9) against sheet 80220's after pages, with a build of the merge base (1b0b3da) as the positive control. I checked the done-when selector on the six routes, hover, Tab and tap on every (i), and the test suite.

Done-when selector: PASS. .v2-feature__description, .v2-feature__eyebrow, .v2-activity__subtitle, .v2-thread__title-line p, .v2-connectors__header p gives the same counts at both widths:

route selector, base → head head height at 1200 at 390
/v2/activity 1 → 0 64 → 64 56 → 59
/v2/artifacts 0 → 0; its two .v2-artifacts__meta sentences become a mono 12 35 → 35 35 → 39
/v2/connect 1 → 0 91 → 66 91 → 71
/v2/connectors 1 → 0 62 → 36 102 → 39
/v2/agents/byo 2 → 0 111 → 66 151 → 71
pod view 1 → 0 51 → 51 51 → 51

The count meta renders in IBM Plex Mono 500 12/16, rgb(102, 112, 133). v2-copy-budget.test.tsx passes.

(i) behaviour that passes. Every trigger's aria-describedby resolves, and Chrome's accessibility tree gives role button, name = its label, description = the hint text. At 1200, on all six routes and the Activity section heads, hover opens and moving away closes; Tab opens it with :focus-visible, Escape closes it and Tab out closes it; the open card is never clipped or off-viewport, and it is topmost at five sample points. At 390 with touch, a tap opens, a second tap closes and a third opens; tapping the title closes it without navigating; Tab in opens and Tab out closes.

Blocking.

  1. Below 760 px the (i) moves when it opens. v2.css:5165–5166 turns the open .v2-hint into its own full-width row (flex-basis: 100%), and the trigger goes with it:
route at 390 (i) at rest → open (x, y) head height, closed → open
/v2/activity 148, 26 → 12, 60 58.5 → 92
/v2/connectors 214, 26 → 16, 60 38.5 → 98
/v2/artifacts 172, 26 → 12, 59 38.5 → 71
/v2/connect 123, 23 → 28, 50 70.5 → 105
/v2/agents/byo 257, 23 → 28, 50 70.5 → 123

The spot that opened it no longer hits the (i). With a mouse in a 700 px window a still pointer is stable, but a 1 px tremor at the rest spot gave 28 open/close flips in 30 readings 50 ms apart, and the head swung 64 ↔ 96 px on Activity and 38.5 ↔ 80 on Connectors, moving the page under the pointer. The Activity section (i)s do not jump. What a person feels: on a phone the (i) leaps from beside the title to the left edge as they tap it, and in a narrow window the page shakes. Property to check: below 760 px the (i) stays where it was and the text opens on its own line under the head row, as the sheet draws it.

  1. At 390 the pod head splits onto two lines. Below 760, v2.css:11234 sets .v2-thread__title-line { display: block; }, so the (i) drops to a line of its own (x 48, y 21, 28 × 28) and the title rises from y 15 to y 1, one pixel from the header's top edge; the header stays 51. When open, the description sits beside the (i) on that second line. What a person feels: the pod's name looks jammed against the top of the screen. Property: the title and its (i) share one row below 760, as they do at 1200.

  2. Three frontend tests fail, in CI run 39886989824 (Frontend tests: 3 failed, 1421 passed) and locally (jest on the four affected files: 3 failed, 29 passed).

    • v2-type-floors.test.ts: .v2-root button.v2-hint__trigger (v2.css:5127) sets sans 11px. The sans floor is 12, and 11 is mono-only (ruling h). Use 12px, or declare var(--v2-font-mono).
    • translationKeys.test.ts: podChat.header.aboutPod (V2Thread.tsx:1609) and connectors.about (V2ConnectorsPage.tsx:1648) are in neither en.json nor zh-CN.json. Three more labels are missing from both but sit outside the test's manifest: activity.about (V2ActivityPage.tsx:1070), activity.needsYou.about (:1225) and activity.movedForward.about (:1419). In the zh render all five read in English, and V2FeaturePage.tsx:329 builds About ${title}, so zh reads "About 接入你自己的智能体". Property: every (i) label comes from a key present in en and zh-CN, the FeaturePage one with the title interpolated.
    • V2Composer.test.tsx:96 still expects .v2-thread__title p to read "Team discussion". The description now lives in the title's hint, so the test should find it there.
  3. The keyboard ring is off-token. v2.css:5144 hard-codes 0 0 0 3px rgba(47, 111, 235, .18); the shell ring is var(--v2-focus-ring), cobalt rgba(29, 63, 209, 0.18) (v2.css:59, used at :388 and :853). What a person feels: the ring on the (i) is a different blue from every other focus ring.

  4. Two counts don't say what they count. Activity's meta is a bare 3 (V2ActivityPage.tsx:1068, queueCount), which reads as three activities; it is the needs-you count, and the sheet draws 3 need you · 5 moved. Connectors' 7 (V2ConnectorsPage.tsx:1646, items.length) counts every channel row, including Slack's "not connected" row and the Discord "not yet" row, so it reads as seven connected; the sheet draws N channels · 1 needs you. The Tools section on the same page already labels its count (2 granted · 3 more). Artifacts' 12 is its total and reads right. Property: each count says what it counts, as the sheet draws it.

Non-blocking.

  1. At 1200, clicking an (i) that hover already opened closes it while the pointer is still on it (V2Hint.tsx:33–34 toggles), and a second click reopens it. Someone who clicks to keep it open sees it vanish; a click on a hover-opened hint could keep it open.
  2. Below 760 the trigger is 28 px visible, where the sheet draws 18 px visible with a 44 px hit area. 28 clears the 24 px minimum target size, so either is fine.
  3. The open card is a fixed min(320px, 100vw - 32px) wide (v2.css:5152), so a two-word description like the pod's gets a 320 × 40 card. The sheet uses a 280 px max width and shrinks to fit.
  4. The Activity "Count unavailable" state (V2ActivityPage.tsx:1224) is a bare <span> with no class. My fixture doesn't reach it, so it is unrendered here.
  5. v2-copy-budget.test.tsx scans for named props and classes, so a subtitle under a new class name would pass it. The selector check on live stays the done-when.
  6. Not this row: under zh the Connect page's title and hint are English. By code read they come from the feature() callers in V2App.tsx and were English before this PR too.

Render. Headless Chrome, DPR 2, reduced motion, a fixed clock, America/Los_Angeles. Each build was served from disk. The API came from the sheet 80220 fixture plus an artifacts list, socket.io was faked, every other websocket was closed and every other origin was aborted. Every run had 0 unrouted or aborted requests and 0 page errors. No request reached production.

A merge with main at 71bd369 renders all 12 arms with identical measurements, and 11 of 12 PNGs are pixel-identical (connect at 1200 differs by at most 1/255, inside the 3/255 a same-build re-run shows). Main is now 585e11c. git merge-tree is still clean, and none of the 9 frontend files main has changed since 71bd369 is one of this PR's 14, but I have not re-rendered at 585e11c. A code- or test-touching head move re-gates (rule 32).

UX-GATE: HOLD @ 8dc4f94 — the five items from my last review are fixed, but at 390 Connectors' (i) now wraps onto a line of its own, the pod's title row rises 11 px when its (i) opens, and Artifacts' (i) label is still English in zh

This is a re-gate under rule 32, because this head changes code and tests (9 files since 60456f9). I rendered a build of this head (8dc4f94) at 1200 and 390, plus a 700 px mouse window, against sheet 80220's after pages, with a build of the merge base (1b0b3da) as the positive control. Compared with my build of 60456f9, five emitted files changed (the Activity, Connectors and app chunks, index.css and index.js) and the rest are byte-identical.

Done-when selector: still PASS. .v2-feature__description, .v2-feature__eyebrow, .v2-activity__subtitle, .v2-thread__title-line p, .v2-connectors__header p gives the same counts at both widths:

route selector, base → head head height at 1200 at 390
/v2/activity 1 → 0 64 → 64 56 → 58
/v2/artifacts 0 → 0; its two sentences are a mono 12 35 → 35 35 → 38
/v2/connect 1 → 0 91 → 65 91 → 70
/v2/connectors 1 → 0 62 → 36 102 → 72 (39 at 60456f9)
/v2/agents/byo 2 → 0 111 → 65 151 → 70
pod view 1 → 0 51 → 51 51 → 51

Fixed since 60456f9.

  1. The jump. At 390 with touch, the (i) stays put when it opens on Activity (285, 26), Artifacts (172, 26), Connect (123, 23) and BYO (257, 23), and the text opens on its own line under the head row (head 58 → 84, 38 → 64, 70 → 96, 70 → 132). In a 700 px mouse window, a still pointer and a 1 px tremor at the centre of each (i) gave 0 flips in 30 readings on all six routes.
  2. The pod head at rest. At 390 the title (48, 15) and its (i) (141, 11) share one row, and the header stays 51.
  3. The tests. The trigger is sans 12 (v2.css:5127), V2Composer.test.tsx:96 reads the description from the hint, and the five labels I named have en and zh-CN keys. In zh they read 关于动态, 关于需要你处理的事项, 关于推进的工作, 关于连接器 and 关于这个 Pod, and the FeaturePage label reads 关于接入你自己的智能体. CI's Frontend tests pass at this head. Locally, across 33 suites, 656 of 657 tests pass. The one failure (V2ThreadDecisionCard.test.tsx:392) is a 5 s timeout during the parallel run; run alone it passes on this head (722 ms), on the merge with main (300 ms) and on the merge base (667 ms).
  4. The ring. Tabbing into any (i) computes rgba(29, 63, 209, 0.18) 0px 0px 0px 3px with a rgb(29, 63, 209) border, which is the shell's token.
  5. The counts. Activity reads 3 need you · 4 moved (zh 3项需要你处理 · 4项已推进), and both numbers match the page: 3 rows wait on you, and launch plan's group holds 4. Connectors reads 7 channels · 1 needs you (zh 7个频道 · 1项需要你处理).

The rest of the (i) behaviour still passes. At 1200, on all six routes and the Activity section heads, hover opens it and moving away closes it; Tab opens it with :focus-visible, and Escape or Tab out closes it. The open card is never clipped or off-viewport, and it is topmost at five points. At 390, a tap opens it, a second tap closes it and a third opens it; tapping the title closes it without navigating; Tab in opens it and Tab out closes it. Every trigger resolves to role button, with name = its label and description = the hint text, in en and zh.

Blocking.

  1. At 390, Connectors' (i) wraps onto a line of its own. V2PageHead.tsx:21–22 renders the counts before the (i). The counts now say what they count, which makes them 173 px wide: 16 + 175 (title) + 8 + 173 + 8 + 28 would end the (i) at x 408, in a row that ends at 374. So the (i) drops to (16, 60) under the title, and the head grows from 39 px at 60456f9 to 72. zh fits with this data (counts 146 px, (i) at 275, 26), so the wrap depends on string length, and a longer count would wrap zh too. At 1200 the same order puts the (i) after the counts on Activity and Connectors, where it reads as if it explains them. The sheet draws title, then (i), then counts, and the counts are what wrap. What a person feels: on a phone, a lone circled i floats under the big title, away from what it explains. Property: the (i) sits right after the title at every width, and below 760 the counts wrap, not the (i). One way to do it: render the hint before the meta, and below 760 give the open .v2-hint__content a later order so its text still lands under the counts (with display: contents it would otherwise fall between the (i) and the counts).

  2. Below 760, the pod's title row rises 11 px when its (i) opens. .v2-thread__header-row centres the title block (v2.css:11236). Opening the hint adds a line of text, so the block grows from 28 to 54 px and its top moves from y 11 to y 0. The (i) goes from (141, 11) to (141, 0), flush with the top of the screen. The title stops lining up with 3 · 2 agents and the panel button, which stay centred, and the header grows from 51 to 55. In a 700 px mouse window, a pointer resting on the lower part of the (i), at (155, 35), is no longer over it once it opens: a 1 px tremor there gave 29 flips in 30 readings, while the same offset on Connectors and Activity gave 0. zh behaves the same. What a person feels: tapping the pod's (i) makes the name hop up to the edge of the screen. Property: below 760 the title row stays where it was when the hint opens, and the text adds height below it.

  3. Artifacts' (i) label is English in zh. V2ArtifactsPage.tsx:170 calls t('artifacts.about', { defaultValue: 'About artifacts' }), and artifacts.about is in neither en.json nor zh-CN.json, so the zh accessible name is "About artifacts". It was the same at 60456f9 and I missed it there. It falls under the same property as last time: every (i) label comes from a key that exists in en and zh-CN. translationKeys.test.ts can't catch it, because V2ArtifactsPage.tsx isn't in the .eslintrc.js override that the test reads.

Non-blocking.

  1. Unchanged: at 1200, clicking an (i) that hover already opened closes it, and a second click reopens it (V2Hint.tsx:33–34).
  2. Unchanged: below 760 the trigger is 28 px, where the sheet draws 18 px visible inside a 44 px hit area. Both clear 24.
  3. Unchanged: the open card is a fixed 320 px wide, so the pod's two-word description gets a 320 × 40 card.
  4. Unchanged: Activity's "Count unavailable" (V2ActivityPage.tsx:1224) is a bare span, and my fixture doesn't reach that state.
  5. Unchanged: v2-copy-budget.test.tsx scans by name, so the selector check on live stays the done-when.
  6. Not this row: under zh, Connect's title and hint are English, as they were before this PR, so its label reads 关于Connect.
  7. New: Connectors says 7 channels while its list shows 8 rows, because the WhatsApp "not yet" row is hardcoded outside the items. CX-1 (TASK-338) deletes that row.

The one console 404, in runs that include a pod view, is a deliberate fixture 404 and appears on the base build too. No request reached production.

A merge with main at d09c4d6 (git merge-tree is clean) gives the same measurements as this head on all 12 plain arms, and on the four (i) arms I repeated on it (Activity, pod and Connectors at 390, and pod at 1200). Of the 24 frontend files main has changed since the merge base, five are also in this PR (en.json, zh-CN.json, v2-layout-invariants.test.ts, V2Thread.tsx and v2.css), and none of main's changes touches the title line, the hint or the page head. Jest on the merge passes 751 of 752 across 42 suites; the one failure is the same timeout, and that test passes when run alone. A code- or test-touching head move re-gates (rule 32).

UX-GATE: HOLD @ 4feb6f7 — the three items from my last review are fixed, but below 760 opening an (i) now pushes the page's counts under its text, and the pod's 3 · 2 agents sits 6 px above the title at rest

This is a re-gate under rule 32, because this head changes code and tests (6 files since 8dc4f94). I rendered a build of this head (4feb6f7), made with the same build command as last time, at 1200 and 390 plus a 700 px mouse window, against sheet 80220's after pages, with a build of the merge base (1b0b3da) as the positive control. My builds of 8dc4f94 and of this head both emit 153 files, and 80 of them are byte-identical. Once the chunk-hash references are normalised, only four files differ: the app chunk (the hint now renders before the counts), the Artifacts chunk (its defaultValue is gone), index.css (the new pod header-row rule) and index.js (the artifacts.about strings).

Done-when selector: still PASS. .v2-feature__description, .v2-feature__eyebrow, .v2-activity__subtitle, .v2-thread__title-line p, .v2-connectors__header p:

route selector, base → head head height at 1200 at 390
/v2/activity 1 → 0 64 → 64 56 → 58
/v2/artifacts 0 → 0; its two sentences are a mono 12 35 → 35 35 → 38
/v2/connect 1 → 0 91 → 65 91 → 70
/v2/connectors 1 → 0 62 → 36 102 → 62 (72 at 8dc4f94)
/v2/agents/byo 2 → 0 111 → 65 151 → 70
pod view 1 → 0 51 → 51 51 → 51

Fixed since 8dc4f94.

  1. Connectors at 390. The (i) now sits right after the title at (199, 26), the counts wrap to the next line at (16, 62), and the head is 62 px. At 1200 the (i) follows the title on every route and comes before the counts: Activity's (i) is at (222, 50) with 3 need you · 4 moved at x 248, and Connectors' is at (302, 58) with its counts at x 328. In zh, Connectors at 390 fits on one line, with the (i) at (121, 26) and the counts at (157, 32).
  2. The pod's title row. At 390, opening its (i) leaves the title at (48, 15) and the (i) at (141, 11), and the header grows from 51 to 77 below them. At 8dc4f94 the title rose to y 0. In a 700 px mouse window, a still pointer and a 1 px tremor gave 0 flips in 30 readings at the centre of each (i) on all six routes. They also gave 0 at 9, 12 and 13 px below the centre on pod, Connectors, Activity and Artifacts. On 8dc4f94 the pod gave 29 of 30 at 10 px below the centre.
  3. Artifacts' label. artifacts.about is in en.json and zh-CN.json, and the zh accessible name is 关于产物 at both widths.

The rest of the (i) behaviour still passes, unchanged. At 1200, on all six routes and the Activity section heads, hover opens it and moving away closes it. Tab opens it with :focus-visible, and Escape or Tab out closes it. At 390, a tap opens it, a second tap closes it and a third opens it. Tapping the title closes it without navigating, Tab in opens it and Tab out closes it. The open card is never clipped, off-viewport or covered. The ring computes rgba(29, 63, 209, 0.18) 0px 0px 0px 3px with a rgb(29, 63, 209) border. Every trigger is a button whose name is its label and whose description is the hint text, in en and zh: 关于动态, 关于产物, 关于连接器, 关于这个 Pod and 关于接入你自己的智能体. Activity reads 3 need you · 4 moved (zh 3项需要你处理 · 4项已推进), and Connectors reads 7 channels · 1 needs you (zh 7个频道 · 1项需要你处理).

Blocking.

  1. Below 760, opening an (i) pushes the page's counts under its text. Moving the hint before the counts (V2PageHead.tsx:21–22) was half of the fix I suggested last time. The other half was a later order for the open text. Without it, the ≤760 block (v2.css:5166–5178) gives the open hint display: contents and its text flex-basis: 100%. So the text takes the line right after the (i), and the counts wrap below it. At 390 with touch, Activity's 3 need you · 4 moved moves from (169, 32), beside the title, to (12, 88), and back when the hint closes. Artifacts' 12 moves from (186, 32) to (12, 88), and Connectors' counts move from (16, 62) to (16, 106). zh behaves the same: Activity goes from (121, 32) to (12, 88), and Connectors from (157, 32) to (16, 106). A hover in a 700 px window opens the same inline text. At 8dc4f94 the counts stayed put. What a person feels: tapping the (i) sends the page's numbers to the bottom-left of the head, then back. Property, as last time: opening a hint adds its text below the row, and the title, the (i) and the counts stay where they were.

  2. Below 760, the pod's 3 · 2 agents sits 6 px above the title at rest. The new align-items: flex-start on .v2-pod-header .v2-thread__header-row (v2.css:11765–11770) fixed the rising title. It also top-aligns the 16 px count box (.v2-pod-header__meta--compact, v2.css:11772) at y 11, where center put it at y 17. Its glyphs now span y 15.5–24.5, against the title's 19–32.5; at 8dc4f94 they spanned 21.5–30.5. The back and panel buttons don't move. This shows on every pod view on a phone, with no hint open. What a person feels: the member count floats above the pod's name. Property: at rest, the pod header at 390 renders as it did at 8dc4f94.

One way to do both. I made a copy of this head's build with two declarations added: order: 1 on the open text (the shared rule at v2.css:5177–5178) and min-height: 28px on the compact count (v2.css:11772). It measured as follows:

  • When the hint opens, the counts stay at (169, 32), (186, 32) and (16, 62), and zh stays at (157, 32).
  • The text opens on the next line at y 62 (86 on Connectors), and Activity's head grows from 58 to 84 instead of 108.
  • The pod's count box spans y 11–39, centred on the title's line, and stays there when the hint opens.
  • The 700 px window still gives 0 flips.
  • The pod frame at 390 at rest is pixel-identical to 8dc4f94's.

The DOM order stays title, (i), text, counts, so the reading order doesn't change. A presence line for each rule in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts would keep them. A patched build is not a build of the head, so the next head gets a full re-gate.

Non-blocking. All unchanged from last time and still true at this head.

  1. At 1200, clicking an (i) that hover already opened closes it, and a second click reopens it (V2Hint.tsx:33–34).
  2. Below 760 the trigger is 28 px, where the sheet draws 18 px visible inside a 44 px hit area. Both clear 24.
  3. The open card is a fixed 320 px wide.
  4. Activity's "Count unavailable" (V2ActivityPage.tsx:1224) is a bare span, and my fixture doesn't reach that state.
  5. v2-copy-budget.test.tsx scans by name, so the selector check on live stays the done-when.
  6. Not this row: under zh, Connect's title and hint are English, so its label reads 关于Connect, as it did before this PR.
  7. Connectors says 7 channels while its list shows 8 rows. CX-1 (TASK-338) deletes the WhatsApp row.

The one console 404, in runs that include a pod view, is a deliberate fixture 404 that the base build logs too. No request reached production.

A merge with main at 93c13f3 (git merge-tree is clean) gives the same measurements as this head on all 12 plain arms. It also matches on the four (i) arms I repeated on it: Activity, pod and Connectors at 390, and pod at 1200. Since my last gate, main's frontend changes touch en.json, zh-CN.json, V2AgentBYO.tsx, V2ApprovalCard.tsx, V2ConnectorTools.tsx, useV2PodDetail.ts and three tests. The merge measures the same as the head, BYO and pod included. Main has since moved to cac4d65. git merge-tree with it is clean too, and its frontend changes since 93c13f3 (the BYO name check, two locale strings and tests) sit outside the page head, so I did not re-render or re-run jest on it. Locally, jest passes 657 of 657 across 33 suites on this head, and 775 of 775 across 43 suites on the merge. CI is green at this head. The PR is still a draft, and per lily-shen its merge waits for Sam's Friday 12:00 PT sheet window or his go. A code- or test-touching head move re-gates (rule 32).

UX-GATE: PASS @ 73e0750 — both items from my last review are fixed: below 760 an open (i) leaves the counts beside the title, and the pod's count sits on the title's line again

This is a re-gate under rule 32. Since 4feb6f7 the branch was rebased onto main 0ce273a and gained a change to v2.css and v2-copy-budget.test.tsx, so the rebase could not carry my last review. This head's tree is the same tree as a local merge I made of de59453 into 0ce273a (never pushed). A build of this head, made with the same command as last time, emits 151 files, and once chunk hashes are normalised all 151 are byte-identical to that merge's build. I rendered it at 1200 and 390 plus a 700 px mouse window, in en and zh, with a build of main 0ce273a as the positive control.

Done-when selector: PASS. .v2-feature__description, .v2-feature__eyebrow, .v2-activity__subtitle, .v2-thread__title-line p, .v2-connectors__header p:

route selector, main → head head height at 1200 at 390
/v2/activity 1 → 0 64 → 64 56 → 58
/v2/artifacts 0 → 0; its two sentences become a mono 12 35 → 35 35 → 38
/v2/connect 1 → 0 91 → 65 91 → 70
/v2/connectors 1 → 0 62 → 36 102 → 62
/v2/agents/byo 2 → 0 111 → 65 151 → 70
pod view 1 → 0 51 → 51 51 → 51
/v2/agents/manage 1 → 0 91 → 61 91 → 61
/v2/profile/:id 1 → 0 91 → 61 91 → 61
/v2/admin/users 1 → 0 91 → 61 91 → 61

The last three rows are the other visible heads this PR takes a sentence from. User Admin stands in for the five admin pages that share its header. With the six done-when routes, they are the nine surfaces in the capture sheets.

Fixed since 4feb6f7.

  1. Below 760, opening an (i) leaves the counts where they were. At 390 with touch, Activity's 3 need you · 4 moved stays at (169, 32) beside the title, its text opens on the next line at y 62, and the head grows from 58 to 84. Artifacts' 12 stays at (186, 32), with its text at y 62 (head 38 to 64). Connectors' counts stay at (16, 62), with its text at y 86 (head 62 to 106). zh is the same: Activity's counts stay at (121, 32) and Connectors' at (157, 32), with the text at y 62. At 4feb6f7 these moved to (12, 88), (12, 88) and (16, 106). In a 700 px window, a hover leaves Activity's counts at (173, 36), Connectors' at (235, 32) and Artifacts' at (186, 32), where 4feb6f7 dropped them to (16, 92), (16, 88) and (12, 88).
  2. The pod's 3 · 2 agents is back on the title's line. At 390 its box spans y 11–39, centred on the title at (48, 15), both at rest and while the (i) is open, when the header grows from 51 to 77 below them. zh is the same. The pod frame at 390 at rest is pixel-identical to 8dc4f94's, and differs from 4feb6f7's only in the count (1,634 device pixels).
  3. Both rules (v2.css:5191–5192 and 11918) have a presence line in v2-copy-budget.test.tsx. Removing either declaration fails "phone disclosure keeps its trigger in the title row and uses the shared focus ring", and putting it back passes 3 of 3.

In the 700 px window, a still pointer and a 1 px tremor gave 0 flips in 30 readings at the centre of each (i) on all six routes. They also gave 0 at 9, 12 and 13 px below the centre on pod, Connectors, Activity and Artifacts.

The rest of the (i) behaviour still passes, unchanged. Apart from the counts, head heights and Connectors' open text above, every (i) result matches my 4feb6f7 run, and every (i) frame and zh frame is pixel-identical to my de59453 run.

Captures. Two sheets of the nine heads at this head, one at 1200 and one at 390 (the top 420 and 700 px of each page), are in the Sharpen pod for the PR body. They come from the same local build and fixture as the numbers here.

Render. Headless Chrome, DPR 2, reduced motion, a fixed clock, America/Los_Angeles. Each build was served from disk. The API came from the sheet 80220 fixture plus an artifacts list, and for the three extra heads an admin check, empty user lists, a two-agent registry and a profile. Socket.io was faked, every other websocket was closed and every other origin was aborted. Every run had 0 aborted requests and 0 page errors. Runs that include BYO make one unrouted request, its next-free-name check, which the fixture answers 404 on main too. Runs that include a pod view log a deliberate fixture 404 that main logs too. No request reached production.

Locally, jest passes 777 of 778 across 43 suites on this tree. The one failure is "V2Thread decision cards › chunks loaded source ids…" timing out in the parallel run; run alone at this head, its suite passes 10 of 10. CI is green at this head. Main has since moved one commit, to 681c26b (#2458, Settings), and git merge-tree with it is clean. It shares four files with this PR (en.json, zh-CN.json, v2.css and v2-layout-invariants.test.ts), but only to add the Settings field rule, the settings.username strings and one invariant line. On a local merge, the copy-budget, layout-invariant, Settings and i18n suites pass 271 of 271.

The PR is a draft, and per lily-shen its merge waits for Sam's Friday 12:00 PT sheet window (19:00Z) or his go. This PASS is at the exact head, so once the PR is marked ready the press can merge it within minutes. Keep it a draft until the window or his go. A code- or test-touching head move re-gates (rule 32).

ux-lead's render sheets for #2437's nine page heads at 73e0750: a local
build of that head with fixture data, headless Chrome, the top of each page.
Quantised to 256 colours to keep them small. Seats can't attach images to a

Lane review (connector UI / agentByo / locales) at 89dc7b2.

89dc7b2 only adds ux-lead's two sheets under docs/audits/task-322/ on top of 73e0750. There's no code delta from the head ux-lead passed.

What I checked in my lane:

  • V2ConnectorsPage.tsx: the page head moves to V2PageHead. The description becomes the "About connectors" hint, so nothing is lost, and the meta line is {channels} · {needs you}. needsYouCount counts a connector in error, a catalog install in error, a connected channel with no pod, and a pending bind. Those are the rows a person has to act on.
  • V2AgentBYO.tsx: the eyebrow is removed and the lead moves into the hint. if (issued) return undefined is kept, so once the command is shown nothing sits above the paste, as in QA BYO walk 2.
  • Strings (en + zh-CN): the new keys are about*, head.* and connectors.counts.*. zh-CN follows the glossary: 关于这个 Pod with a half-width space around Pod, {{count}}项需要你处理 with 你, never 您, and 连接器 / 产物 / 动态 match the existing keys. Plural pairs are identical in zh, as expected.

One non-blocking note: connectors.counts.channels counts every listed row (items.length), including the "not yet" placeholders (Discord, WhatsApp). So "7 channels" on the 1200 sheet means 7 rows, not 7 working channels. That's worth tightening when the not-yet rows are folded, not here.

Strings gate at exact head 89dc7b2b2b842e8a374c36c97c8da5925a9c0959, re-resolved before filing. All 15 new keys exist in both locales — computed by flattening both files and differencing the key sets, not read off the diff: 1,694 en keys, 1,686 zh, and zero zh-only keys. Suites at this head: the i18n suites, the new copy-budget test, V2ConnectorsPage and v2-layout-invariants — 343 passed / 6 suites.

Verdict: HOLD, two items, each a one-line fix. One correction to the ask first: the key is podChat.header.aboutPod, not pod.header.aboutPod.

HOLD 1 — connectors.counts.channels names something other than what it counts. You flagged this as non-blocking in your lane pass; against the property I was given — "each new string says what the control does" — it is the one item I can't wave through, because it is visible text in both locales and it misstates the user's own state at the moment they first see the page.

The meta is t('connectors.counts.channels', { count: items.length }) (V2ConnectorsPage.tsx:1652), and items derives from allItems, which begins with the whole catalogue — every offerable entry, connected or not (:1109-1115) — filtered only by having a label (:1138). So an account that has connected nothing still reads "N channels" / "N个频道" where N is the size of the catalogue. "N channels" reads as a possession; the number is an inventory of options.

It is also unguarded: no test asserts that meta string, so a count that drifts further from its noun stays green. The cheap fixes are to count connected rows, or to name what is counted ("N available"). Which one is a product call and yours; that the string and the number disagree is the gate finding.

HOLD 2 — zh common.aboutPage breaks the ratified half-width rule for every live input. The zh value is 关于{{title}} with no space, and every title that reaches it is a Latin literal, so rendered:

title en zh
Connect About Connect 关于Connect
Manage agents About Manage agents 关于Manage agents
Profile About Profile 关于Profile

The rule is ratified and already enforced elsewhere in this repo, so I am applying your standard rather than my taste: i18n.test.ts:101-114 carries lily-shen's 2026-09-23 zh-CN gate — "'Pod' stays English with half-width spaces" — and its neighbours honour it (你受邀加入 {{podName}}, and this PR's own 关于这个 Pod). The surface is the hint trigger's aria-label (V2Hint.tsx), so the cost is to zh screen-reader users rather than sighted ones, and the fix is one character — but note that adding a space to the zh string is only right while every title is Latin; if a title is ever localized, 关于 动态 would be wrong, so the durable fix is localized titles with a per-page about key, which is what the four dedicated pages already do.

A third item, named not blocking: the eyebrow removal orphans a string. Dropping eyebrow from V2AgentBYO's V2FeaturePage leaves agentByo.eyebrow defined in both locales ('Your own agent' / '你自己的智能体') and referenced nowhere in frontend/src. I checked that with a positive control, because a dead-key claim is a claim about the whole tree: the sibling agentByo.mode.onCommonly returns 1 hit (V2AgentBYO.tsx:928, still live), and agentByo.eyebrow returns none. Nothing catches it — translationKeys.test.ts asserts every used key exists, never the reverse.

One note, no action. The four new zh _one entries are unreachable: Intl.PluralRules('zh-CN') resolves to ['other'] alone, which I ran rather than recalled. They are harmless, and both shapes pass the guards — the base-key check strips plural suffixes, and the CLDR check asks only for each language's own categories. Worth knowing only because eight pre-existing plural keys (board.taskCount_one, podChat.header.agentsWorking_one and six more) omit the zh _one entirely, so the file now does both things.

Everything else in the property holds: 你 not 您 throughout, 连接器 / 产物 / 动态 used as in the existing keys, 关于这个 Pod spaced correctly, and each new about string names its own surface.

UX-GATE: PASS @ 89dc7b2 — carries my PASS at 73e0750 (review 5624109748): the only change is my two capture sheets, and nothing that builds moved

This stamp carries my last review; it is not a re-gate. This head is 73e0750 plus one commit, 89dc7b2, which adds docs/audits/task-322/page-heads-1200.png and page-heads-390.png and changes no other path. The frontend, backend, cli and k8s trees are the same objects at both heads, so a build of this head is the build I gated and every number in 5624109748 stands. I made no new build or render, because nothing that builds changed.

The two PNGs are my sheets from the Sharpen pod, quantised to 256 colours. They have the same pixel sizes as my originals (1232×4234 and 1234×2278). The mean difference is under 0.1 of 255, and 371 and 44 pixels differ by more than 48 levels. Both files hold only image data (IHDR, PLTE, IDAT, IEND), so they carry no text or timestamp metadata.

Main has moved to 856126b (#2463). It shares one file with this PR, V2Thread.tsx, where it exports loadDecisionPagesForMessageIds at line 139; this PR's hunks there are the V2Hint import at the top and the pod description's move into the hint at line 1695. git merge-tree is clean. On a local merge (never pushed), the 14 suites that import V2Thread, including copy-budget, layout invariants and the decision cards, pass 382 of 382. #2463 rewrote the decision-card test that timed out in my full parallel run at 73e0750, and it passes here. At filing, 19 checks pass and E2E Tests is still running.

The PR is still a draft. Per lily-shen (pod 80786), she marks it ready and presses after Sam's Friday 12:00 PT sheet window or his go, and not during the 12:00–16:30 PT deploy window. This PASS is at the exact head. A code- or test-touching head move re-gates (rule 32).
