🌐 Web query:
official litd documentation --disableui Lightning Terminal web UI
💡 Result:
I couldn’t find an official `litd` option named `--disableui` or `--disable-ui`. The official **Run litd** guide instead documents the UI as part of the normal setup: it shows setting `uipassword` and says to open `localhost:8443` to access it. ([docs.lightning.engineering](https://docs.lightning.engineering/lightning-network-tools/lightning-terminal/run-litd?utm_source=openai))
So the official docs don’t establish a supported flag for disabling the Lightning Terminal web UI. They do document `httpslisten` for configuring where the UI listens—not disabling it. ([docs.lightning.engineering](https://docs.lightning.engineering/lightning-network-tools/lightning-terminal/run-litd?utm_source=openai))

🌐 Web query:
site:github.com/lightninglabs/lightning-terminal disableui litd
💡 Result:
`litd` supports `--disableui`. The option disables serving the web UI, so you don’t need to set `uipassword`. ([pkg.go.dev](https://pkg.go.dev/github.com/lightninglabs/lightning-terminal?utm_source=openai))
For example: `litd --disableui` — or add `disableui` to `lit.conf`. The source I found describes the current published package; check your specific `litd` version if you’re using an older release.

🌐 Web query:
github.com/lightninglabs/lightning-terminal v0.17.6 --disableui
💡 Result:
For Lightning Terminal **v0.17.6**, `--disableui` is a supported flag. It starts LiT without serving the web UI, so you don’t need to set `uipassword`. ([pkg.go.dev](https://pkg.go.dev/github.com/lightninglabs/lightning-terminal?utm_source=openai))
```bash
litd --disableui
```
Citations:
- 1: https://pkg.go.dev/github.com/lightninglabs/lightning-terminal?utm_source=openai
Update the Lightning Terminal guide for the disabled UI.
--disableui disables the Lightning Terminal web UI in v0.17.6. The guide still directs users to /lit/, so that workflow is unavailable.
Suggested fix
-Lightning Terminal appears under **Server Settings > Services** and is served at
-`/lit/` on the BTCPay Server host.
+The Lightning Terminal web UI is disabled in this setup.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

@Liongrass I think you can remove the Also, check in helpers.sh, we can install that in /usr/bin when the container is detected, so people don't have to go to the btcpayserver-docker folder. There tests are failing, put you agent on it. ACK for me, I don't use Lightning Terminal so I'm not well placed at commenting on your changes, I'll defer to your preferences. Make sure the docs is up to date. (if there is no docs, it is probably better to add one) |

Hi Nicolas, Thank you for taking a look at my pull request!
|
This pull request attempts to resolve #1179 by restructuring the
opt-add-lightning-terminalcompletely.Things to know when upgrading:
. ./bitcoin-litcli sessions add --label="terminal web" --type admininstead from yourbtcpayserver-dockerdirectory.. ./btcpay-down.sh) and move your/generated_lnd_litdatadir/_data/mainnetfolder (or substitute for your network) into/generated_lnd_litdatadir/_data/.litbefore restarting BTCPay (. ./btcpay-up.sh)Detailed changelog:
litdUI is no longer exposed and entirely disabled. This decision was made after consultation withlitddevelopers. The UI is not actively maintained and will likely be sunset eventually. This change hardens the deployment within BTCPay and makes thenginxroute obsolete. This is the main breaking change of this pull request.litdmust now be made over TLS to port8443and authenticate with a valid macaroon.lnd_lit_datadir:/lit:rovolume is now mounted to thebtcpayserverservice, similar to how thelnddirectory is mounted. This allows BTCPay to read the macaroons and TLS certificate, similar to how it reads the LND credentials.lnd_lit_datadir:/lit, this makes it less akward to mount all directories oflitd's subservices (loop,taproot assets, etc) to be mounted in the same volume.loop,.pool,.faradayand.tapdwere all deleted whenever a container was restarted. Only.litpersisted.bitcoind, andbitcoindwill no longer need to be mounted. This could later be added as an optional flag, if there is interest in it.bitcoin-faraday.sh,bitcoin-litcli.sh,bitcoin-loop.sh,bitcoin-pool.shandbitcoin-tapcli.sh
