This has been explored internally before and the outcome for now been that it's not a direction we want to take at this time. |

I understand the perspective of this RFC with Lua 5.1 having legitimate flaws that Luau is forced to carry due to its design philosophy with regards to compatibility (there's a lot of Lua 5.X changes that Luau developers like but won't implement because they break 5.1 code), but I don't think splitting the language in half is a good design choice either. It certainly doesn't make any more sense than keeping dated code from falling apart. |
