There is some stutter, especially when moving the mouse over the window. It looks like frames are arriving out of order on occasion, but this did not appear to be the case from logging the PTS of each frame. They were arriving in order.
It seems like this could be a bug with the Gnome compositor (Mutter). Here is an open issue where the reporter is experiencing the same thing I was.
