This repository stores a variety of examples demonstrating how to use the Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database.
If you are looking for a modern application pattern, start with the use case below and then drill into the language or QuickStart samples that match it best.
| Use case | Start here | Why this is useful |
|---|---|---|
| AI and live application state | languages/python, languages/nodejs, quickstart/sample_code/jdbc | Shows TimesTen for response cache, chat memory, agent-workflow, feature state, and other active application data. |
| JSON application data | languages/python/jsonSample.py, languages/nodejs/jsonSample.js, quickstart/sample_code/jdbc/JsonSample.java | Demonstrates JSON document storage, indexing, update, and query patterns. |
| Real-time financial authorization state | languages/python/paymentAuthorizationState.py, languages/nodejs/paymentAuthorizationState.js, quickstart/sample_code/jdbc/PaymentAuthorizationState.java | Shows TimesTen as a low-latency store for payment authorization decisions, idempotent replay, and hot risk state. |
| Real-time telecom call routing state | languages/python/telecomCallRoutingState.py, languages/nodejs/telecomCallRoutingState.js, quickstart/sample_code/jdbc/TelecomCallRoutingState.java | Shows TimesTen as a low-latency store for telecom routing decisions, idempotent replay, and hot session state. |
| Core SQL and transactional patterns | quickstart/sample_code/jdbc, languages/python/sql.py, languages/nodejs/sql.js | Good starting points for operational app-state and transaction samples. |
| Containers and deployment | modern demo container setup, persistent container example, kubernetes | Run the modern samples in a local container setup, or explore persistent and Kubernetes deployments. |
If you are new to these samples, start with the language and deployment examples below. They highlight the most common application-development paths while keeping the QuickStart material available for deeper product coverage.
| Area | Start here | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Python | languages/python | Python samples using the python-oracledb driver. |
| Node.js | languages/nodejs | Node.js samples using the node-oracledb driver. |
| Java | quickstart/sample_code/jdbc | Java samples using the TimesTen JDBC driver. |
| Containers | modern demo container setup | Run the modern Python, Node.js, and Java samples in a local TimesTen container setup. |
| Kubernetes | kubernetes | Deploy TimesTen with the TimesTen Kubernetes Operator. |
| Repo/Folder name | Description |
|---|---|
| languages | Open source language samples for Python and Node.js. |
| quickstart | QuickStart, administration, and API samples. |
| containers | Persistent TimesTen container example, including the modern demo container setup. |
| kubernetes | Shows how to use the TimesTen Kubernetes Operator to deploy TimesTen in Kubernetes. |
The QuickStart tree remains part of this repository. It includes long-standing samples for JDBC, ODBC, OCI, PL/SQL, TTClasses, ODP.NET, ODPI-C, J2EE/ORM integrations, administration tasks, cache, replication, and performance testing. These samples are useful for existing deployments, compatibility testing, and product-feature coverage even when they are not the first recommended path for new application developers.
We recommend using TimesTen 26.1.1.1.0 or later, especially for the modern
demos for AI/application state, payment authorization, telecom call routing,
and agent workflow state. These demos use the TimesTen JSON data type, which
requires TimesTen 26.1.1.1.0 or later.
Some long-standing and compatibility samples can still run with TimesTen 22.1.1.1.0 or later. Any sample that requires a newer release calls that out in its README.
