EPIC: release train 0.72.1 #6482
Description
Release train epic for 0.72.1, the patch release that skips 0.72.0 and clears the zstd advisories (#6437, #6416, #6413, #6414).
Bump PR: #6438, merged 2026-10-27T21:06:13Z as 734ba66 (Cargo.toml version 0.72.1).
Route (existing path): scripts/release/autopilot.sh 0.72.1 6438 through dryrun, its default stop. Annotated tag v0.72.1 on the merge commit, clean-room (aprender) green on exactly that commit, then the publish dry run. No publish without a green clean-room on the tagged commit.
Open in milestone: #6468 (CHANGELOG regen), #6470 (release drift), #5326.

Shipped in aprender v0.72.2 (crates.io 2026-10-29T23:11Z, tag v0.72.2 = 350f0ad).
Child #6487 (v0.72.1 clean-room B2 build_diff_info tests need git history): fixed by #6488 (1ab06c6, Closes #6487); build_diff_info runs git with -C and its tests are hermetic without .git. The 0.72.2 bump itself is #6489 (632d5a6).
Still open: nothing under this train per the sub-issue summary. Progress: 1/1 done. I have not closed the epic.

Reconcile 2026-10-30: v0.72.1 was tagged 10-28 but never published to crates.io (GitHub release still Draft). Its content shipped in 0.72.2, on crates.io since 2026-10-29T23:11Z (
curl https://crates.io/api/v1/crates/aprender/versions). The train is complete; closing. Open items of milestone 0.72.1 were carried tobacklogbyscripts/release/carry_milestone_items.sh 0.72.1.
