As soon as you hit mark all (CTR + A) or select text including the Shortcode UI a preview item you will not be able to copy. Right click "copy" also is greyed out as soon as you have a preview in the selection.
In Firefox this problem does not exist. It will copy text from inside the items.
Not sure how relevant this is is was reported to me from someone who later said its not a problem to switch to the text editor for copy pasting. Tested it with my ARVE plugin, just confirmed it with another plugin also using Shortcode UI.
