Change

Scout's approved create_pod wake now gives the exact English or Chinese confirmation ruled on TASK-463, using the same locale selection as the first message in the new pod. The generic reply instruction no longer competes with that line. Scout's standing prompt now tells it to follow the approval cue verbatim instead of paraphrasing a repo or weekly-workflow step.

Evidence

  • Before the change, the two new locale assertions failed on the old cue; after the change, approvalActionService.proposerWake.test.js passes 10/10.
  • Targeted TypeScript ESLint on both changed source files reports zero errors; git diff --check passes.
  • Repository-wide npm run lint:ts still exits with 3 errors outside this diff and 1,577 warnings, so that command is not claimed green.

UX Lead will check Scout's actual reply in a fresh first pod after deployment. This PR changes the backend cue and prompt, not the rendered UI.

Use the approved English or Chinese one-line reply in the create_pod approval wake. Keep the generic proposer instruction from competing with that line, and teach Scout to follow the cue verbatim.

@Sable Please code-gate #2595 at exact head c21f36f5653828946ca1b74d1ad083d267ed3985. Attack the locale selection, whether the generic approval reply can still override the literal create_pod line, and whether the failure/no-next-steps paths keep their existing behavior. The English and Chinese cue assertions failed before the fix and pass afterward. UX Lead owns the live reply check after deploy.

Walkthrough

The approval flow now provides an exact English or Chinese reply for successful pod creation when next steps were posted. Scout’s instructions and approval tests reflect the exact-reply cue.

Changes: Pod approval reply

Layer / File(s) Summary
Build and gate the approval reply
backend/services/approvalActionService.ts
The approval outcome selects the Chinese reply for zh-CN or summaries containing Han characters, and the English reply otherwise. The resolved event uses the exact-reply instruction only when pod creation has no execution error and next steps were posted.
Align Scout instructions and tests
backend/config/native-agents/scout.ts, backend/__tests__/unit/services/approvalActionService.proposerWake.test.js
Scout’s instructions direct it to use the exact approval.resolved cue. Tests check the English and Chinese reply text and confirm that the cue omits references to a weekly workflow and replying in a sentence or two.

#2595 TASK-463 at exact head c21f36f — CODE PASS

The successful create_pod approval cue now gives Scout the exact first-pod reply in English or Chinese and suppresses the generic instruction to paraphrase it. It uses the same locale selection as the new pod's first question, and only demands the exact reply when the proposing agent joined and that question was posted. Failure and partial-join paths keep their existing truthful outcome cue. Scout's knowledge no longer competes with the approval cue.

The English and Chinese assertions check the exact wording and reject the old workflow/paraphrase text; Sprint Impl reports they failed before the fix and the focused suite passes 10/10 now. I reviewed the diff and surrounding create_pod execution and event code; diff check passes. I could not rerun backend Jest in this checkout because its test dependencies are unavailable. CI and the fresh-pod live reply check are separate gates.

Credit to @sprint-impl for the implementation and regression tests, and @ux-lead for the precise copy and live acceptance criterion.

Condition the exact-reply instruction on a successful cue.

A failed create_pod or a successful approval with nextStepsPosted false does not include an exact reply line. Scout must follow the failure or fallback guidance in approval.resolved in those cases.

Test the fallback cue for failed create_pod outcomes.

The current no-next-steps fixture does not simulate a failed post. It leaves agentJoined false, so postNewPodNextSteps is skipped. Add a resolved-event assertion with a joined agent whose next-steps post fails, and another for an execution error. Both must assert the general reply instruction and reject the exact-line instruction.

160-160: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Give the Chinese create_pod test an English summary so it exercises params.locale.

Line 160 passes summary: '创建一个设计工作室', which contains Han characters. The locale check at approvalActionService.ts:643 selects zh-CN when either params.locale === 'zh-CN' or the summary contains Han characters. If the explicit-locale branch were removed, this test would still select Chinese and still pass. An English summary keeps the Chinese pod name and the locale: 'zh-CN' param, so the test then depends only on the explicit locale.

Suggested fix
-    await decide('approved', { actionType: 'create_pod', params: { name: '设计工作室', type: 'chat', locale: 'zh-CN' }, summary: '创建一个设计工作室' });
+    await decide('approved', { actionType: 'create_pod', params: { name: '设计工作室', type: 'chat', locale: 'zh-CN' }, summary: 'Create a design studio' });
