Docs gate at head 7407938b3a58a8d3b79e419ba73a800d3c484ae9, tree 4b22c0af0b1eeb10598863add4794d6ded80ee53, merge-base fc63afed7. 13 files, +208/−120: seven new bring-your-own/* pages, a rewritten quickstart, two screenshots, nav, docs/cli/dsh.md, and the docsSiteFacts guard.
The harness property is held by a guard here, and it discriminates
docsSiteFacts.test.js gained the Bring your own navigation lists walked runtimes only, and I mutated it rather than reading it (6/6 green at this head):
| mutation | result |
|---|---|
add bring-your-own/qwen to the nav |
✕ walked-runtimes arm |
drop bring-your-own/hermes from the nav |
✕ same arm |
| append "The free plan allows 20 turns a day" to the quickstart | ✕ links live hosted limits instead of freezing plan numbers |
So the property is mechanised in both directions — unwalked added and walked removed — which is more than the README has: on #2477 the equivalent list was unguarded.
Independent of the guard: the pages name exactly Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Hermes, DeepSeek Harness and the MCP path. The CLI's registry (cli/src/lib/adapters/index.js) also exports qwen, pi, goose and stub, so commonly agent attach qwen would work today and the pages deliberately do not mention it. Naming a subset of what the CLI accepts is the correct shape for a walk record.
Commands check out against 0.1.122
The repo's cli/package.json is 0.1.122 and npm view @commonlyai/cli version is 0.1.122, so the stated version is the shipped one. Every flag the pages use exists at this head: --pod, --name, --adapter, --env. All four adapter names used (claude, opencode, hermes, dsh) are in the registry.
The key is a placeholder everywhere — cm_agent_… in the claude mcp add block (same form as docs/MCP_INTEGRATION.md:175-178) and '<key-from-the-Connect-page>' in the export. No real value appears.
--env …/environment.json is right, and the CLI's own error message is the wrong side. agent.js:2933 documents the option as "Path to environment.json (ADR-008)" and the loader at :133 is JSON.parse, so the pages are correct — while agent.js:226 still prints [--env <environment.yaml>] in its refusal text. That is issue #2422, unchanged; the docs now disagree with a string that was already wrong.
Windows is not claimed, and WSL is subordinate — but not in the pinned phrasing
Zero windows in every new page. WSL appears three times, always as Linux/WSL (codex.mdx frontmatter and body, index.mdx card), i.e. inside Linux rather than as a third platform — the substance the rule is about.
Worth one line anyway: the repo pins that claim's wording in runtimeClaims.test.ts:72-77, which requires every WSL to sit inside /Linux,? \(?including WSL/. I ran the four phrasings: "Linux, including WSL" and "Linux (including WSL)" pass; "Linux/WSL" and "Mac and Linux/WSL" fail. That guard reads only README.md and guides.json, so docs-site is outside it and CI is green — but extending it to docs-site is the obvious next step, and these three mentions would fail it on the day someone does.
Screenshots, and a near-miss of mine
Both PNGs are referenced with alt text in both pages: start-agent-desktop.png via markdown at index.mdx:8 and quickstart.mdx:14, start-agent-mobile.png via <img … width="390">. Sizes are 174,819 and 134,142 bytes, so they are real captures rather than placeholders.
My first scan matched only <img and <Frame and therefore found the desktop image unreferenced — I was one step from filing "an unused 174 KB asset ships here". The markdown image syntax is invisible to an HTML-tag regex.
One honest limit: "the real app on the free plan" is not something I can verify from the bytes. I can confirm the files are real screenshots, referenced, and described by their alt text; whether the captured account was on the free plan is outside what this tree can tell me.
Short, and clean on style
24, 15, 15, 17, 30, 15, 39 and 24 lines. Zero hits for this page, this document, as mentioned, we believe, aims to, might or currently planned across all eight. Frontmatter is title + description (the Mintlify convention), and each page opens with prose rather than a restated title.
One trade to note, not a defect
This PR deletes the hosted limits match the code, which asserted the quickstart's turn numbers equalled DEFAULT_TURNS_PER_DAY / _PRO. With the numbers gone from the copy there is nothing left to compare, and the replacement arm pins their absence plus a link to the live surface — which is the stronger anti-drift invariant. The consequence worth stating plainly: there is now no docs↔hostedCaps numeric tie anywhere, so if a plan number ever returns to a docs page, it returns unguarded.
CI: 22 pass, 3 skipping, nothing failed. mergeStateStatus reads UNKNOWN, which is GitHub still computing rather than a blocker — worth a glance at press time.

Delta re-stamp at head c573773ad89e9b1de2dc0b609da6f048ac75b523, tree 1b4e1aa5816c4925810858d04f444eb249da7b4d. The three narrowings check out and the guard still holds. One thing blocks the press, and it is not the content.
Press blocker: this branch no longer merges
mergeStateStatus is DIRTY, and git merge-tree origin/main c573773ad89e9b1de2dc0b609da6f048ac75b523 names it: CONFLICT (content): docs-site/docs.json. Since my PASS at 7407938b, #2487 and #2488 both merged and both edited that file (four nav entries removed, then the Getting Started group split into Work together and Connectors — 18 insertions / 10 deletions against this PR's merge-base); this branch adds the Bring Your Own Agent group to the same region.
The resolution needs its own look, because the guard keys on a literal group name. docsSiteFacts's walked-runtimes arm does groups.find((group) => group.group === 'Bring Your Own Agent').pages. That string occurs 0 times on main and once here, so a resolution that renames or drops the group doesn't weaken the guard — it makes it throw on undefined. Either way the resolved docs.json is a new tree I have not seen; everything below is a verdict on the content at this head.
The three narrowings match their sources
| narrowing | checked against |
|---|---|
| Codex is macOS only | WSL, Linux and Windows are now 0 across every page in this PR. My earlier note — that Linux/WSL fails the phrasing runtimeClaims.test.ts:76 pins — is moot rather than worked around |
Hermes needs 0.22.2 and a key in OPENROUTER_API_KEY; it cannot run public or sandbox-declared |
hermes.js: TESTED_HERMES_VERSION = '0.22.2' with a throw on any other version (:27-28), providerKeyEnv: 'OPENROUTER_API_KEY' (:143) enforced at :175-176, and :152-154 throwing for public trust or any sandbox mode ≠ none |
| the env.json is the verified explicit shape | version: 1 is the only accepted value (environment.js:186-187), workspace is a validated key (:45, :276), and the mcp entry is byte-for-byte the CLI's own commonlyMcpServer() — same name, transport, command: ["npx","-y","@commonlyai/mcp@latest"] and the same ${COMMONLY_API_URL} / ${COMMONLY_AGENT_TOKEN} placeholders, which claude.js:97 confirms is a real runtime placeholder rather than shell-looking decoration |
One scope note on OPENROUTER_BASE_URL. The page now tells a reader to set it for a compatible endpoint. That string appears nowhere in the CLI — but hermes.js:171 builds the child env as { ...(ctx.env || process.env), HERMES_HOME: home }, a full inherit, so an exported OPENROUTER_BASE_URL does reach Hermes Agent. So the instruction is possible by passthrough and its authority is your walk plus Hermes's own behaviour — unlike OPENROUTER_API_KEY, which this repo names and enforces. Nothing here fails if Hermes renames that variable, and this page is then the only record of it.
The guard still passes, and so do the claims guards
docsSiteFacts 6/6 at this head, including the walked-runtimes arm. llmsTxt + runtimeClaims 15/15.
One edit that is a fact, not a tone change
quickstart.mdx's description went Your first answer in 60 seconds → A running agent in about a minute. That is a timing claim on both sides, and it moved under a tone pass rather than being listed as a narrowing. It is not unmoored — TASK-312 carries the measured target "signup → first reply has 5-10 s under 60 s", which "about a minute" is consistent with — and nothing in the repo pins a quickstart timing claim: the measured-timing guard (llmsTxt.test.ts:44-50) covers /llms.txt only, where it allows exactly one claim and forbids every other seconds? phrasing. So the wording is defensible and unguarded, and this is the file class the repo has been tightening (#2302, #2303). Worth either citing the measurement next to the claim or dropping the interval.
CI: 22 pass, 3 skipping, nothing failed.

Rebase re-stamp at head eb965fa8a462718877b00e91ff5f210e06507612, tree 43bdb392666dddd1935c6eeba2c932eb9493ea8d, merge-base 9ac61bdef (= origin/main). mergeStateStatus is CLEAN — the conflict I flagged at c573773a is resolved.
The page content really is unchanged
Comparing the two heads directly would have been wrong here: the rebase moved the branch across ~50 files of main's progress, and a head-to-head diff charges the branch for all of it. Scoped to the branch's own twelve files, git diff c573773a eb965fa8 -- docs-site/bring-your-own docs-site/quickstart.mdx docs-site/images docs/cli/dsh.md backend/.../docsSiteFacts.test.js is empty. So every content finding from review 5626139575 carries without re-deriving: the three narrowings, the byte-for-byte commonlyMcpServer() env.json, zero WSL/Linux/Windows, and the OPENROUTER_BASE_URL passthrough note.
The resolution keeps main's nav and adds only its own
docs.json against origin/main is +13/−1, in one region: bring-your-own/index appended to Getting Started, plus a new Bring Your Own Agent group holding the six guides. Main's structure survives intact — the groups are now Getting Started, Bring Your Own Agent, Work together, Connectors, Building Agents, Self-Hosting, Agent Marketplace, Integrations, i.e. #2487's deletions and #2488's Work together / Connectors split are both preserved rather than reverted by the resolve.
Walked the resolved nav against the tree:
nav entries 39 | mdx files 39 | duplicate entries 0
nav entries with no file: []
files not in nav: []
nav entries pointing at a page #2487 deleted: []
A bijection, no duplicates, and nothing aimed at agents/overview, agents/authentication, deployment/production-checklist or integrations/webhooks.
The guard survived the hand resolve, and I proved it still bites
This was my stated risk last round — the walked-runtimes arm does groups.find((group) => group.group === 'Bring Your Own Agent'), so a resolution that renamed or dropped that group would make it throw rather than weaken. 6/6 at this head, and two mutations on the resolved file:
| mutation | result |
|---|---|
rename the group to "Bring your own agent" (case only) |
✕ walked-runtimes arm |
add bring-your-own/qwen to the group |
✕ same arm |
So the literal is intact and load-bearing, and the guard discriminates on this tree rather than on the one I measured before the rebase.
CI: 22 pass, 3 skipping, nothing failed.
